The LYKKE Approach
We're a team of passionate thinkers and doers, dedicated to caring for kids through the learning environments we create, the programs we envision, the conversations about and our interactions with kids and families. .
Our Approach
We’re creating the time, space, and freedom children need
to play deeply, wonder freely, and learn how kids learn best - with joy.
Our practice is informed by more than 25+ years of experience working with children, alongside current research and evolving thinking in education and child development. We draw from what we know, what the research tells us, and - most importantly - what we observe in the children in front of us.
We observe and listen to children, and learn -
developing new approaches, paying attention to their impact,
and sharing what we discover.
Time to Wonder
Children aren’t rushed from one experience to the next, settling into learning with time to wonder.
Small Groups
Educators can notice more, respond more and know each child more deeply.
Learning Through Play
Play gives children space to test ideas, solve problems, negotiate, imagine and make meaning.
Following Children’s Curiosity
Children’s questions and interests become invitations for deeper learning.
Skilled Educators
Similar to world leaders in education (like Finland), our educators have Masters degrees. This means a minimum of 6-7 years of post secondary education focusing on child development, designing learning environments and more.
Real World Experiences
The world is our classroom. Learning expands beyond our fun walls as we visit art galleries, exhibits, ponds, and more… This is how kids make connections between
Kiddos in Our Programs
Parents / caregivers share that kids:
meet new friends (with small groups, kids get to know each other + we love seeing our program kiddos seeing each other at their birthday parties)
feel more confident (they approach new kids their age out in the neighbourhood, )
