Meet Lainie

Lainie Holmes is an educational leader, innovator, and founder of LYKKE Kids.

And to the kids who know her, she’s Lainie,
The Teacher, Our Neighbour, The Fairy of Play, and Miss Rachel.

Lainie lives in the neighbourhood with her three awesome kids and her husband, Eric. She’s a fan of the cinnamon bun pancakes at Lazy Daisy’s Cafe (they’re so good), she’s always planning the next getaway for her family, and a few hours at Vëtta amongst the trees makes her feel human again.

The Vision at LYKKE Kids

Lainie founded LYKKE Kids with the belief that kids need to feel empowered - to make their own decisions, feel confident around others, and spend time doing things that bring them joy.

She imagined a space that would someday bring together… adults learning, kids learning, all in service of kids.

At the heart of her work is a belief in wonder as a way of learning. Lainie brings together education, design, play, creativity and child development to create experiences that invite children to think deeply, make freely, follow their interests and see themselves as capable, curious people.

With a background in teaching and educational leadership, she wanted to bring together pedagogy, play, and creativity to imagine and design new possibilities for childhood and learning.

Lainie and her colleagues are currently exploring what’s possible when we design spaces, experiences and systems around the wonder, creativity and well-being of children.

At LYKKE Kids, we are watching children closely, identifying emerging needs, responding with new approaches, learning from what happens, and sharing what we discover. It’s exciting work and incredibly fulfilling when we hear from families the difference it’s making for their kids.
